Paul Lester began his career as a freelance journalist for Melody Maker, eventually becoming assistant editor. He is one of the authors of the Virgin Encyclopedia of Rock. He has written several biographies of music stars and interviewed many of the most famous musicians. He usually appears as a music critic on television and radio programs.
